DT Strategy Guide
Master the DT HERO WOD with detailed pacing strategies, movement tips, and scaling options.
Strategy Overview
Barbell cycling efficiency and grip management are key. Don't drop the bar unnecessarily.
Pacing Strategy
Keep barbell moving in smooth cycles when possible
Plan strategic rests before grip gives out completely
Rounds 1-2 should feel controlled, 3-5 will be challenging
Aim for 4-6 minute rounds
Movement-Specific Tips
Deadlifts: Touch and go when possible, controlled tempo
Hang Power Cleans: Smooth transition from deadlifts
Push Jerks: From front rack, focus on leg drive
Keep hands on bar between movements when possible
Use hook grip if comfortable
Scaling Options
Remember: Scaling is Smart
The goal is to maintain the intended stimulus of the workout. Scale appropriately to challenge yourself while maintaining good form and the workout's character.
Reduce weight: 135/95 or 115/75
Reduce rounds to 3-4
Power cleans from floor instead of hang
Push press instead of push jerk
Singles on all movements if needed
Additional Success Tips
Grip endurance is the key limiter
Practice the barbell complex before attempting
Chalk hands frequently
Smooth, rhythmic breathing pattern
This workout rewards barbell cycling efficiency
