Choose your current level
Strategy overview
Your work starts with the right dose.
Push for 5-7 complete rounds with consistent HSPU quality and efficient gymnastics.
Recommended gear
- Parallettes
- Gymnastics rings
- Wrist wraps (for HSPU)
- Chalk
- Hand grips (optional for rings)
Pacing
Intermediate pacing strategy.
Control the start, stay aware of your movement quality, and give yourself a chance to finish with intent.
Target 3:00-4:00 round times
Minimize rest between movements
Consistent parallette HSPU sets
Smooth toes-to-rings
Movement
Make the reps count.
Use these cues to retain the purpose of the workout while respecting the ability you bring to it today.
Parallette HSPU: Sets of 2-3 or singles, full ROM
Toes-to-Rings: Sets of 5+5 or smaller, control descent
Med Ball Cleans: Unbroken, quick cycling
Scaling
Keep the intended stimulus.
Scaling is not an afterthought. It is how you stay in the workout, practice useful positions, and build toward what comes next.
Scale with a reason.
Choose an option that keeps good form and preserves as much of the workout’s character as your current ability and available equipment allow.
Regular HSPU instead of parallette
Reduce reps to 4-8-12 if needed
Reduce time cap to 18 minutes if struggling
